Hotels
The destination defines the hotel, that is my maxim.
In countries where communication is difficult, Russia for example, it is best to make a strong investment and hire higher category hotels. On the other hand, in the big European capitals, the most important thing is the location, so any decent option near the train station or, otherwise, a subway station, is enough to move around with agility.
In the event of a vacation, where you go to rest on beautiful beaches, the key is to define if the All Inclusive is justified and then find a good deal.
For Latin America, it is advisable to target tourist areas or those that appear to be the safest.
In Southeast Asia, once again, unless youth allows and justifies it, the ideal is to spend a little more and ensure a certain quality and comfort.
Luggage
This advice is not to be reproduced and may not be published.
The burden of luggage was, is and will be an issue in any trip. That is why, for some time now, I have been carrying old clothes to "discard". As I believe in recycling, before leaving, I put them in a bag with a message asking for them to be taken to a church or charity center. The same goes for shoes. That way, as the days go by, my suitcase is emptied and I gain space for those purchases that inevitably take place in every getaway.
In addition, choose the right things, use neutral colors and choose the classics. A pair of jeans, a pair of pants or dark pants, a black dress, t-shirts, shirts and/or sweaters, a coat, the rest is lifted with a good scarf or accessory ... and voila!
On the other hand, the big drugstore chains in the United States sell mini beauty and personal care products to put together your own travel kit. Otherwise, as a good lover of bottles and containers, I always have empty ones that I collect. So, when it's time to leave, my toiletry bag is complete with all my hygiene routine in a small and -once again- disposable size.
Records
Carry all important information printed and handy, as well as the booking vouchers. Having a photo of your passport on your cell phone is also essential.
Taking note of what surprises you, of the details, helps you to remember the experience more clearly as time goes by. That's why the concept of the travel notebook will never go out of fashion.
The same goes for photos, but be careful that the desire to record that landscape, that sculpture, that work of art, is not more relevant than the experience itself.
